William (Bill) Thomas Hollingsworth
November 28, 1938 – August 12, 2025
William “Bill” Thomas Hollingsworth passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and dedication to his community.
Born on November 28, 1938, in Kalama, Washington, Bill graduated from Kalama High School in 1956. Encouraged by his older brother, a pediatrician, Bill pursued a career in medicine. He earned his degree from the University of Washington’s School of Pharmacy in 1961 and became the first pharmacist at Mason General Hospital in Shelton. Through his leadership, Mason General developed into a sophisticated clinical pharmacy, where his work touched countless lives.
Bill married the love of his life, Jean, in 1962. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and fulfillment. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff, and is survived by his wife, Jean; son, David; and daughter, Jill.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill was deeply involved in his community. He coached baseball for decades, mentoring generations of young athletes, and introduced CYO basketball to Olympia. An avid runner, he completed four marathons and numerous half marathons, showing the same perseverance in his hobbies as he did in his work and family life.
Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a trusted friend, and a man who treated everyone he met with kindness. His efforts and generosity enriched the lives of hundreds of families, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 4–7 PM at the Olympia Country and Golf Club.
