Mary Ann Bevans, 86, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 at Legacy Village Senior Living in Castle Pines, Colorado. Mary Ann was born on April 18,1939 to the late William H. and Effie M. (Kershner) Rapp. She grew up in the Rush, Colorado community and graduated from Miami-Yoder High School in 1956. Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. (Ron) Bevans, on August 31,1957 in Raton, New Mexico. Ron and Mary Ann raised their sons in Rush, CO where they farmed and ranched for 23 years.  In addition to helping her husband run their farm, she was also a full-time homemaker.  When her sons were old enough to attend elementary school, Mary Ann took a position as school secretary reporting to the District Superintendent. She held this position for over 10 years before resigning in 1980. That same year, she began working at Walter Drake & Sons in Colorado Springs in Customer Service.  An employment change for Ron in 1981 was the catalyst for them to relocate to Colorado Springs so they could live closer to their work.  Mary Ann continued working at Walter Drake for 13 years and eventually retired from Walter Drake as a Customer Service Lead in 1994.

She loved her family deeply and would seize every opportunity to share the achievements and accomplishments of her children (and grandchildren) with most everyone.  Mary Ann wasn’t without her own interests.  She was very active in the Rush community: the Neighborly Circle Club, the Pikes Peak Cowbells, and the Holtwood Gun Club.  Each of these organizations were important to her, but nothing compared to her love of music and singing with her sisters, appropriately named “the Rappettes”. They performed at family gatherings and small community events. Her love of music was also the foundation in supporting her oldest son’s strong desire to perform musically as well.  When Joe began to showcase his talents around the community at the age of 14, Mary Ann was the first to encourage him and she would do all that she could to help him in pursuing his love of music.  Like her husband, she also enjoyed watching sports, mostly baseball, softball, football, volleyball and basketball. She stayed active participating in bowling, golf and her favorite activity, dance (whenever she got the chance).

Mary Ann is survived by her son, Larry (Amy Mae) Bevans of Castle Pines, CO; her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Kira (Rico) Perez; Ryan (Megan) Bevans, great-grandsons Nolan & Troy Bevans; Jared (Jamie) Bevans; Shannon Bevans; and Kaylee Dionne; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Nina (Irv) Fuchs, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: William (Bill) and Effie Rapp, daughter-in-law Lisa Bevans, sister & brother-in-law Barb & Robert Payne, brother Billy Rapp, son Joe Bevans, sister & brother-in-law Bette & Stan Watson, and husband Ron Bevans, several brothers & sisters in-law, cousins and friends not personally mentioned, but certainly not forgotten.

The funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Central United Methodist Church, 4373 Galley Road, Colorado Springs.  A graveside burial service will commence later that day at 1:30 P.M. at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 4373 Galley Road, Colorado Springs, CO  80915.
