Katherine Ann (Mitchell) Saxton, 85, Ontario, Oregon was called to her eternal home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Ontario.

Katherine (Katie) Saxton was born July 3, 1940, in Prineville, Oregon. She was the daughter of Mike and Lois (Blackstone) Mitchell. She is survived by her two brothers Skip Mitchell and Jim Mitchell, her husband - the love of her life - Sheldon Saxton, her children Darrell Saxton, Sheryl Childs and David Saxton. Her nine grandchildren: Samantha Maurer, Jessica Lopez, Shelbi Schultz, Seth Saxton, Spencer Childs, Jordan Childs, Ceder Saxton, Sareena Childs and Dev Saxton.  Along with six great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Crook County High School. After high school, she attended BIOLA College in La Mirada, California and received a degree in Christian Education. One of her fondest memories in college was spending a summer as a student missionary to the Havasupai Indian Tribe in the Grand Canyon of Arizona.

In 1964, Katie met Sheldon at First Baptist Church. They were active members of the church and were married on February 20, 1965. On February 20, 2025, Katie and Sheldon celebrated their 60 years of marriage.

Katie and Sheldon lived in Prineville from 1965-1971. In October of 1971, Sheldon accepted a promotion at the Vale District BLM. They then made their home in Ontario with their children, Darrell and Sheryl. Upon moving to Ontario, their son, David was born. Sheldon and Katie were charter and active members of the Treasure Valley Baptist Church. Katie was a children's AWANA leader for several years and she served on various church commissions. Katie also enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league.

Katie had a true gift for nurturing and found great joy in raising not only her children but also many of her grandchildren, who were blessed to grow up surrounded by her love. She loved to travel with Sheldon, her kids, and grandchildren. Katie's favorite trips were traveling to Hawaii and going on a helicopter ride with Sheldon around the island and cruising around Alaska with her Sheldon and Sheryl where they visited Denali National Park and rode the train to Fairbanks.

Katie is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her. Her faith was her foundation, and we trust she is resting in God's eternal care. A private family burial will be held, followed by a memorial service at Treasure Valley Baptist Church on September 25, 2025, at 3:00pm. The family invites those who wish to share memories or condolences to do so through Lienkaemper-Thomason at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Treasure Valley Baptist Church in Ontario.

Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel-Ontario

For over 100 years, the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel has served the Ontario, Oregon, community with professional, compassionate care. Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
