Alice E. Carter
May 6th, 1931 - September 12th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Alice Edenfield Carter went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, September 12, 2025. She was born on May 6, 1931. She was the wife of Elliott S. Carter for 68 years until his passing in December of 2016. She was the daughter of the late George Everett Edenfield and Dorothy Hope Martin Edenfield. She also had a brother, the late Charles Everett Edenfield.
Alice graduated from Dreher High School before marrying the love of her life. Alice and Elliott had three children, Marie Carter Vermullen, Susan Carter Marrell Carter, and Eddie Carter. Alice is survived by her three children, Eddie’s wife Eme, as well as seven grandchildren: Leslie Marrell Trotter (Rusty), Laurie Marrell Romanstine (Paul), Alice Marrell Wilson (Jay), Bonnie Carter Rambo (Kevin), Caroline Carter Robinson, Wayne Vermullen (Ingrid) and Tammy Vermullen Clark (Tom). She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren: Blake Romanstine, Brayden Romanstine (Darby), Gracie Trotter, Grady Wilson, Laurie Alice Trotter, Jacob Wilson, Mollie Beth Wilson, Avery Rambo, Sammy Robinson, Lily Rose Robinson, Catharine Vermullen Barone (Joe), Cameron Clark, Carter Vermullen and Trace Vermullen. In addition, she was to become a great-great grandmother to Kayson Romanstine, due in November. She has always loved babies and was looking forward to his arrival. She’s also survived by Elliott’s sister, Katherine Carter Elliott, as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
She worked so many years as the face of Estée Lauder, at the cosmetic counter at JB Whites Department Store (both Richland Fashion Mall & Dutch Square Mall) and after retirement she rested a few years then went to work at St. Martin’s Mother’s Morning Out Daycare and loved on more babies than we can count, until retirement from there at 80 years old.
Alice and Elliott were faithful members of Springdale Baptist Church for over 50 years, and Belmont Baptist Church for years prior to Springdale.
The family wishes to recognize the staff of Carroll Campbell Place for the loving care they provided our mother and grandmother. They became like family to us.
The immediate family will have a private celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please, in her memory, reach out to someone that you feel God has placed upon your heart to help.
