In Loving Memory
Herman Dewey Bouknight, 93, of West Columbia, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was born in Lexington County on February I4, 1932 to the late Joel A. and Della Estelle Areheart Bouknight.
He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, a Korean War Veteran and retired from AT&T, formerly Southern Bell.
Herman is survived by his children Stephanie Eaddy (Robert) of Lake City, SC, Cindy Bouknight of Columbia, SC and Steve Bouknight (Brian) of Knoxville, TN; Sisters-in-law Linda Bouknight and Mattie Varn; Brother-in-law Jerry Prosser (Sue) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Mary “June” Prosser Bouknight. He was also preceded in death by sisters Vernita Sipes and Eleanor Talbert and brothers Clyde Bouknight, Erby Bouknight, Carroll Bouknight, Lindy Bouknight and Dwight Bouknight.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brad Word of the Columbia Medical Group, the staff of the 8th floor, Averyt nursing station at Prisma Baptist, and The Pines of Columbia for their compassionate care of our father over the last several months.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 B Ave., West Columbia, SC 29169 or to a charity of your choice.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11AM with a visitation one hour prior at 10AM. Both the visitation and the service will be held at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in West Columbia. The burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
