Linda Lou Young
April 24th, 1949 - September 9th, 2025
Linda Lou Young died on September 9th, 2025 at the age of 76 after dealing with health issues for the past few years. Linda was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on April 24th, 1949 to Helen Mary (Heavilin) and Charles Richard Strong. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado and attended Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado.
On February 5th, 1977 she married the love of her life, Gene Young after meeting him at the Dark Horse Saloon in Boulder. They went on to build a beautiful life together, having two daughters, Maegan and Courtney. She spent her spare time attending her daughter’s various recitals, games, events, as well as tailgating and attending CU football games and camping at Carter and Boyd Lakes. Linda was a planner and known for her loving and giving spirit. She was always there for anyone who needed her and welcomed everyone to her gatherings. Her events were always filled with great food and activities. Her Christmas parties would often include special guests such as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus as well as caroling and games to entertain everyone of all ages.
She worked for the Boulder Valley School District for many years, starting at Lafayette Elementary when her daughter Maegan entered Kindergarten. She transferred to Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette when it opened as a lunch lady. She continued her career path throughout the district working her way up to an Administrative Assistant at the Boulder Valley School District Administration building in Boulder, Colorado before retiring after 20 years.
In 2009 she became a grandmother, welcoming her first grandson, Nicolas Rocco Young, son of Courtney Leyshon-Young. In 2015 she welcomed more grandsons when twins Landon Gene Dolloff and Theodore Kurt Dolloff were born, sons to Maegan and Nathaniel Dolloff. In 2019 she gained her first granddaughter Kaydia Shannon Leyshon and another grandson Robert (Bobby) Michael Leyshon with the union of her daughter Courtney to Jason Leyshon. In 2020 she welcomed her 6th grandchild, Levi Glen Leyshon, and in 2022 she welcomed her 7th grandchild and second granddaughter, Graycie Gene Leyshon. She loved her girls, son-in-law’s and grandchildren fiercely, always being there for them for whatever they needed.
She loved going to the movies with her grandson Nico, attending her grandson’s Landon and Theodore’s soccer games, going to lunch with her girlfriends, attending holiday functions with her family, baking and cooking for her family. She had a passion for arts and crafts and enjoyed making homemade cards, coloring, and completing puzzles, as well as attending Mollie McGee’s craft market. She loved attending plays at the Boulder Dinner Theater and various Christmas shows. She loved seeing her sister Lynnette and spending time catching up with her and watching TV shows together as well as going out to eat and shopping with her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Strong, her mother Helen Strong, her father-in-law Allan Young, mother-in-law Viola Young, brother-in-law Joseph McManus, sister Cindy Miller, and husband Gene Young. She is survived by her, daughter Maegan Dolloff and son-in-law Nathaniel Dolloff, daughter Courtney Leyshon-Young and son-in-law Jason Leyshon, grandchildren Nico Young, Kaydi Leyshon, Bobby Leyshon, Landon Dolloff, Theodore Dolloff, Levi Leyshon and Graycie Leyshon, sister Lynnette Strong, brother Charles Strong, sister-in-law Ailene McManus, brother-in-law Allan Young and his wife Linda Young, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held at The Overlook at Colliers Hill located on 650 Orion Avenue in Erie, Colorado on Sunday, September 28th at 11:00 am. Please wear bright colors to the service in honor of Linda. We ask you to gather with us to share memories and celebrate Linda’s amazing life. Food, of course, will be served.
