In Loving Memory of Helen Elizabeth Heughan
Helen Elizabeth Heughan, 96, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, under the attentive and compassionate care of the staff at her assisted living home.
Born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barkauskas, Helen lived a long and meaningful life defined by devotion, kindness, and quiet strength. From an early age, she carried a deep sense of care for others — a quality that shaped her family and touched everyone around her.
Helen married the love of her life, William (Bill) Heughan, and together they created a home filled with laughter, faith, and unconditional love. For many years, she worked alongside Bill in his chiropractic practice, managing the office with warmth and grace, making everyone feel welcome. Later, she contributed to the Woodbury school system, where her compassion and steady presence left a lasting impression on students and colleagues alike.
Family was Helen’s greatest joy and proudest achievement. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and nurturing grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was always a place of warmth, good food, and open arms — a haven where everyone felt welcomed and loved. During their life together, Helen and Bill opened their home to a family from Vietnam after the Vietnamese conflict and later hosted a Ukrainian family in 1990, reflecting their generosity and care for others. Her strength, patience, and gentle humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by her children C. Duane Heughan and his wife Karin of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Robin L. Marr and her husband Stephen of Venice, Florida; her sons-in-law Rudy Jadwani and Michael Carlino; and five precious grandchildren, and fifteen adorable great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William (Bill) Heughan, and her cherished daughters
Susan Lee Heughan, Kimberly D. Heughan-Jadwani, and Dale Y. Carlino.

Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
