Russell Hansel
February 4th, 1947 - September 16th, 2025
Russell Hansel, 78 of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away on September 16th, 2025. The widower of Kathleen Hansel, and the son of James and Etta Mae Hansel, Russell is also preceded in death by his sisters (Shirley, Betty, Irene, and Geraldine) and his brothers (John, Jack, James, and Samuel). He leaves behind one brother: Bennie Hansel, two daughters: Sandra (Billie) Ritchie and Angel Spencer, three grandchildren: Amanda (Brandon) Spencer, Angel (Chet) Roberts, and Kai-Lynn Kingsley, and four great-grandchildren: Claire, Shawn, Danielle, and Hunter.
Russell spent his life as a true “jack of all trades”, sometimes working as many as three jobs to support his family. Some occupations Russell held include truck driver, construction worker, and mechanic. If Russell couldn’t fix it, then nobody could fix it. A true lover of nature, Russell spent his retirement gardening, spending time with family by watching movies or playing games, or watching his beloved birds eat from the many bird feeders just outside his window. Russell also enjoyed music and often would put on concerts with his grandchildren singing and dancing as Grandpa played “Love Can Build a Bridge” by the Judds or anything from Jonny Cash. Family meant everything to Russell, who would even go fishing with his late wife though he didn’t exactly enjoy it. He cherished the time he got to spend with people, and he never met a stranger. Russell’s love and wisdom will live on through the many lessons he taught his children and grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Billie Ritchie, Brandon Bailey, Carl Hamilton, Chet Roberts, Shawn Roberts, and Stacy Spencer. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in Versailles.
