Hector Estrada Rascon
March 14th, 1932 - September 12th, 2025
Hector Estrada Rascon, 93, passed away on September 12, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on March 14, 1932, in Huisopa, Mexico, a place that shaped him and remained dear to him all his life.
Hector was a simple man who found joy in the things that mattered most — his home country, the family ranch, and being in nature. In his younger years, he was an accomplished hunter and enjoyed deep-sea fishing in Kino Bay, Mexico. He also had a deep appreciation for a good meal and a lifelong sweet tooth, never passing up the chance to enjoy Mexican sweets or a pineapple sundae shared with his grandsons.
After coming to the United States, Hector worked as a taxi driver in Nogales while awaiting his citizenship. He later began a career with the City of Tucson, first as a zookeeper and then as a heavy equipment operator for the Water Department, where he worked until his retirement.
Though his work and interests varied, Hector’s heart was always tied to his family’s ranch in Madera. He embodied the cowboy life — hardworking and steady, his hat a symbol of the pride he took in that way of living.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita, and siblings Emilio, Leo, and Lupe. He is survived by his children Mario, Daniel (Christine), and John (Ronda); grandchildren Morgan, Tristan, and Gage; siblings Arnold, Arthur, Herman, Irma, Chabela, Luz, and Licha; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Hector will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of nature, and the simple joys that brought him happiness throughout his 93 years. His legacy is carried on not only through his family, but also through the quiet example he set of living simply and fully.
