Dantine "Dancyn" Ted Halmot
October 26th, 1949 - September 15th, 2025
The world got a little quieter (and the nap competition a little fairer) on September 15th 2025, when Dantine Ted Halmot, 75, of Lakewood, Washington, decided to take the longest nap of all.
Papa was a champion napper, avid Halloween lover, a pool shark with questionable “house rules,” a poker player who swore luck was a skill, and a joke-teller who believed no audience was too small — whether it was friends, family, or the poor cashier just trying to bag his groceries. He was known for his ability to turn any ordinary moment into something brighter and a mischievous grin that always gave away his bluffs.
He loved the sharp crack of a pool break, the thrill of poker hands, and the laughter that followed his endless stream of jokes.
He taught us that naps are sacred, there are spirits all around us, time travel is real, laughter is the best medicine, and that a joke told loud enough will always find a listener (whether they liked it or not).
He leaves behind his loving wife (Tina), two sons (Zachary and Logan), his daughter (Sarah), and after his little nap, he will wake up and be able to go teach his other daughter (Maxine) the best jokes and how to win every pool game possible with the perfect opening break.
Though he has hung up his cue for the last time, his humor, warmth, and mischief lives on in everyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing him.
We’ll celebrate him on September 27th 2025 at 3pm at 101 Holly Ct, Fircrest Wa 98466 Reception to follow at 3610 Bridgeport Way W at 5pm. In his honor, tell a bad joke, take a well-earned nap, and don’t sink the 8-ball too soon.
Rest easy, Papa. You finally found a nap we won’t try to wake you from anytime soon. We will love you forever and always, until we meet again.
