In Loving Memory

Marston Vaughn "MV" Hilton, age 95, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Greensboro, MV was the son of the late James and Carrie (Vaughn) Hilton. A proud veteran of the United States Army pinned as a sharpshooter without any military training.  MV exemplified dedication and resilience throughout his life.

Before being drafted in the United States Army, MV sold his service station, but his entrepreneurial spirit never waned. Upon returning home from military service, he promptly purchased another station, launching a successful career that would span nearly four decades in the service station and convenience store industry. For 27 years, he proudly served as an Exxon dealer, and for five of those years, he worked as an Exxon instructor mentoring fellow dealers and generously sharing his deep knowledge and expertise in the business.

MV’s passion extended beyond business. He was a devoted steward of his family farm, which he cherished deeply. He built his own home and spent countless hours farming tobacco, hay, and raising cattle. After retiring from the service station business, MV transitioned into real estate development, continuing to build and invest in his community.

Above all, MV was a family man. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was known for his sage advice—often given freely and with love. In his final days, he was lovingly cared for by his daughter-in-law, Cindy, and his granddaughters, Becky-Roo and Michelle. His grandson, Darryl, offered him deep comfort by reading Scripture and praying by his side, bringing MV a profound sense of peace and strength.

MV is survived by his children, Michael Hilton (Cindy) and Melanie Sass (Raymond); grandchildren, Michelle Davis (Mikey), Darryl Hilton (Sharon "Ruth"), Rebekah "Becky-Roo" Thompson (David), Jessica Sass; and his beloved grand-dog, Zac. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Tim Cantlin (Hayley), Chris Bray, Day Thompson, Eve Thompson, Joseph Hilton, and Jeremiah Hilton, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruby Webb (Odell) and Gladys Sams, and his brother JW Hilton (Laverne).

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, from 10AM to 11AM at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service - Lambeth Chapel, 300 W Wendover Ave, Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Nick Decker. MV will be laid to rest at Gethsemane United Methodist Church Cemetery, 100 North Carolina Hwy 150, Greensboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Home Society in Greensboro, Turning Point Ministries, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

MV Hilton will be remembered for his enduring spirit, his love of family, and the wisdom he so freely shared. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
