Ken Maynard Jr. 

May 17, 1958 – September 19, 2025 

Ken Maynard Jr., 67, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and more than a few great memories. 

Born in Logan, West Virginia, to Ken Sr. and the late Wanda Maynard, Ken lived a life full of kindness, laughter, and quiet strength. He spent his career helping companies optimize their business operations and training others in Six Sigma, but his true work, the one he was most proud of, was being a devoted husband, father, brother, and, most recently, a very smitten grandfather. 

Ken absolutely adored his wife of over 40 years, Rita. Their love was something special, full of deep respect, laughter, and the kind of connection that made everyone around them believe in lifelong love. Ever since 6th grade, he never stopped making her laugh (or rolling her eyes), and not a day went by that she didn’t know how much he cherished her. 

He leaves behind two sons he loved beyond measure, Ken (Lucia) and Kyle (Rebecca), who will carry on his steady, thoughtful spirit and knack for finding humor in everyday life. His granddaughter Quinn brought him endless joy in her short time with him — her giggles lit up his world, and he loved nothing more than making her smile. 

Ken is also survived by his brothers, Sean (Candice) and Kevin, who shared a lifetime of brotherly adventures, WVU football games, and the kind of bond that can only come from growing up together. 

Every morning Ken would walk around his yard, enjoying the grass, flowers, and birds, getting centered for his day. He carried this thoughtfulness and care in everything he did. Ken had a deep and enduring love for family and their adventures, and two things that never let him down (well, almost never): his 1988 Porsche and WVU football Anything his two sons were up to, from work to family to adventures, he would pour his full attention into sharing and talking with them. His Porsche was polished like a jewel and pampered like a third child. And though West Virginia football tested his blood pressure for decades, he stuck with them through every nail-biting game, bad call, and heartbreak, because loyalty was just who he was. Ken enjoyed grilling and trying to perfect his caramel lattes. 

There will be no formal services, but the family will be raising a glass, likely a good pour of Scotch or whiskey, neat, and celebrating a life well lived. If you're thinking of Ken, we invite you to do the same: tell a great story, laugh a little too loud, hug someone you love, or take a drive with the windows down and the music up. 

He lived with heart, loved without hesitation, and made life better for everyone lucky enough to know him.
