Fred "Pohaku" Hatsuo Honda

Fred Hatsuo "Pohaku" Honda, was born in Honolulu to parents, Paul and Violet Honda on April 30, 1930, passed away September 7, 2025
Graduated from Farrington High School in 1948; Honolulu Business College with a Business Degree and attended the University of Hawaii.
Fred's happiest times were spending weekends and summer months, surfing and swimming at the Waikiki beaches.
His hotel experiences began in 1956 as Financial Analyst for the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu; Controller/Executive Asst Manager of the Sheraton-Maui Hotel; General Manager of Hanalei Plantation on Kauai; Vice-President/General Manager of the Keauhou Beach Hotel in Kona; General Manager of the Amfac Hotel at SF International Airport; Vice President/General Manager of the Cathedral Hill Hotel in San Francisco; Executive Manager of the Oahu Country Club in Hawaii; General Manager of the Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui; and General Manager of Halekulani in Waikiki, finally retiring in 2006.
Fred did volunteer work at the McKee Medical Center, and was involved in various Civic, Club and Community activities. Charter member of the Lahaina Junior Chamber of Commerce; President of West Hawaii Visitors Bureau; During 1984-1994 served as Chairman of the Membership Committee, Groups/Convention Committee and Vice Chairman of the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. Active charter member of the Escoffier Society of Hawaii; member of SKAL of San Francisco and Honolulu chapters.
He is survived by daughter Patricia (Honda) Soricelli of Johnstown; son Kyle Kalani Honda of Honolulu; brother Lorrin Honda of Honolulu; grandson Travis Kanekoa Davis and wife Mikela, great grandchildren Dorothy Kalama and Tyson Iokepa; grandson Garet Kealii Davis, wife Makaya and great grandsons Dawson Likeke and Brodie Lee Keahi.
