Mickey (Michael) Kapostasy, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 77.

Mickey was born in 1948, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, to Michael and Helen (Nolan) Kapostasy. Mickey was one of 11 children, with many cousins in the Lake County area. Mickey enjoyed playing football, and other sports in the Fairport Harbor school system. He was recruited to play football at Western Reserve (later merged, became part of Case Western Reserve). During college he made lifelong friends and charted a course for his life. Throughout his life he continued to be a big football fan (Go Browns, Go Bucks, Go All College Teams), and a fan of all Cleveland sports teams.

Mickey’s career started as a teacher, high school social studies, and history. He continued to enjoy football, as a coach. He taught school for about 5 years, then changed direction and joined Ohio Title Corporation.  Title and property research let him exercise his love of history and learning. From the start Ohio Title was a great place for him, full of friends, fun and new challenges. Forty-eight years later he retired as President of Ohio Title and continued to provide consulting for a period of time, from Florida.

In 2015 Mickey and Janet moved from Painesville Township, Ohio to Venice, Florida. He was right at home floating around in the pool, soaking up the sun and enjoying the good things in Florida.

Mickey, a confirmed bachelor, met Janet (Cole) in 1983. For both, it was love at first sight. In 1984 they were married and enjoyed more than 41 years together. They both loved family and friends, enjoyed volunteering, to help make their community better, supporting their local churches, hosting parties, celebrating holidays and lots of travel.

Mickey loved and lived life, to the fullest extent possible, every day.  As a multitude of health problems presented mounting challenges for the last 30 years of his life, he never lost his sense of humor, empathy towards others, sense of adventure and curiosity.  Right to the end, he was game for the next chapter and looked forward with joy and anticipation.

He is survived by beloved wife, Janet, his siblings, Liz Muzzin (Tim), Steve Kapostasy (Marianne), and Roger Kapostasy, and was a beloved Uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Helen Kapostasy; brothers Dickie, Arthur (Debbie), Bill (Jenni), and his sisters, Patty Carlson (Carl), Nancy Carlson, Karen Thomas, Debbie Bramley (Chuck), and his niece Jill Kosir (Carlson, Tony).

Mickey will be remembered for his never-ending focus on having a good time and making sure everyone else did too, his sense of humor, his generosity of spirit, and the love he shared with so many.

As per his wishes, Mickey has been cremated. In Florida, friends and family are invited to gather to remember Mickey on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00am ET, for a Memorial Service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, at 790 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34285. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon to continue celebrating Mickey’s life, beginning around 1:30 pm ET, location of the Celebration Luncheon shared after the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers please donate, in Mickey’s name, to the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/) or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/).
