Joan F. Crawford Shaffer was born on August 9, 1929, in Monte Vista, Colorado, and passed away peacefully in Baldwin, Georgia, on September 23, 2025, at the age of 96.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joseph Crawford and Blanche King Aydelotte, Joan is survived by her cherished children: Diana Parks (Glen) of Anchorage, AK, Debi Weems of Braselton, GA, Jim Copeland III (Cathy) of Perry, GA, and Donna LaRoche (Walter) of Duluth, GA; her grandchildren: Jennifer Hisel, Robert Holton, Cameron Tempest, Maggie Fowler (William), Melissa Weems, Lorriane Betrosoff (Sean), Aimee Becket, James Copeland IV, Jeremy Gould, Chris Gould, Stephanie Thompson, Daniel LaRoche (Rachel), Lisa LaRoche, Lindsey Dunagan (Matthew); and great grandchildren Gracie Swain, Dillen Swain, TJ Hisel, Tabitha Fowler, Gabriel Fowler, Abigail Fowler, Kaylee Cravey, Clayton Thomas and Liam Thomas; Sisters-in-law Dora Mae Crawford, Elaine Copeland and Judy Robertson (Mal); a host of extended friends and family who were profoundly touched by her kindness and unwavering love.
Joan dedicated her life to her family and embraced her role as a homemaker with grace and devotion. She loved to bowl and even when she couldn’t physically bowl anymore, she enjoyed being in the bowling alley with family and friends. Her steadfast faith in God was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and guiding her actions. Joan enjoyed singing in the church choir and having luncheons and getting together with her ladies' group. Joan enjoyed listening to hymns and sharing God's message, touching the hearts of many along her journey.
A celebration of Joan's life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Warner Robins, Georgia. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Paula Hoffman. Inurnment will immediately follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

Joan’s legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed yet fondly remembered.
