Mary Jo was born on June 24, 1935 in Cascade Idaho to Mary Florence Campbell (Howd) and Joseph Campbell. Mary Jo spent a large part of her childhood in Parma, ID. She graduated from Parma High in 1954.

She met the love of her life Mountain Home Airman Robert Elvin in February 1958.  They married September 06, 1958 and began an adventure that lasted 52 years. They started their family in Boise while dad was going to school at Boise Jr. College, then expanded when they moved to Moscow so dad could attend the University of Idaho. When dad graduated, he took a job with the Idaho Transportation Dept and back to Boise they came.  Three years later they moved to Lewiston and then back to Boise and another three years moved back to Lewiston.  It was in Lewistion mom and dad raised their three children.

Mom was active as a den mother for her son’s Cub Scout pack. She became active in the Inland Empire Girl Scouts acting as her daughters’ troop leader, the Lewiston and Clarkston Valley Cookie Chairman and sitting on the Council. Mom was active in her church, St. Stanislaus, singing in the choir and the Alter Society. She played bridge monthly and was a member of the Lewiston Button Society.

When dad was transferred one last time they moved to Emmett. Mom quickly joined the Boise chapter of the Idaho Button Society. She loved her buttons. She put a lot of work into making the cards to showcase her buttons. Mom was active in her church, Sacred Heart, as a member of the Alter Society, choir and the Christian Women’s Club.

Being in Emmett brought Mary Jo closer to her brother and his family as well as old friends from her days at Idaho Power and life long friends made at U of I.  Mom and dad joined Good Sam’s and had many wonderful adventures. Along the way they made lasting friendships. Mom and dad were a great team. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
