In Loving Memory of Patricia Spychalla-Patrow

Patricia “Patty’ Jean Spychalla-Patrow (July 7, 1948) of Warm Springs, Georgia, returned to her Saviour’s side on September 18th, 2025 at the age of 77 in Stockbridge, Georgia.

Patty is preceded in death by her husband of twenty years, DuWaine Daryle Patrow; parents Ralph Spychalla and Velma Lundgren; siblings Ralph “Tom” Spychalla, Leonard “Ed” Spychalla, Charlene Rogers, Chris Sandoval, Clinton “Sonny” Wilson, Brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Harlow and Richard Sandoval, Sister-in-Law Kathy Spychalla, Grandson Andrew Harlow and Step Great Grandson Max Espiritu.

She is survived by her siblings Virginia “Tweety” Harlow, Jacky (Bob) Lovegren, Sherry (Jeff) Bursey, Chuck (Wendy) Wilson, and Sandy Poolman. Sister-in-Law Deb Spychalla and many beloved god children, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Patty treasured her children: Roxanne (Nick) Espiritu of Mound, MN; Bob (Holly) Harlow of Stockbridge, GA; and Donnie (Angie) Harlow of Red Wing, MN. She adored her grandchildren: Hali Peterson, Tom (Molly) Eccles, Lindsey (Adam) Eccles, Bobby (Rachel) Harlow, Travis Harlow, Paige (Chris) Davis, and Lezlee Harlow. She delighted in her great-grandchildren: Jason and Otto Tlougan; Finan Eccles-Grise; Eli, Rylan, Brayden, and Grayson Wyman;, Wyatt, Juliette, and Everett Harlow. Step Great Grandchildren: Jordan, Jackson, Easton Espiritu; Kamden and Merrick Gravelle; Gavin and Gage Nolden.

Patty knew a little bit of everything: how to preserve food, how to hunt and fish, how to get even the most stubborn stains out of shirts. She took the time to learn the names of flowers and birds, and remembered to send a birthday card to every single one of her great-grand children. She talked to her siblings daily on her “Chain-Gang” text thread, sending photos, encouraging Scriptures, and funny stories. She traveled and traveled often: visiting family between Minnesota and Georgia, hunting trips to Missouri, cruises to Alaska, and many flights to Europe where she enjoyed a good cappuccino and a Weißbier. There isn’t a better way to describe Grandma Pat other than “home”. She was the twinkling colorful lights at Christmas, the tight hug at the doorstep before you left, the smell of brewing coffee in the early morning light of the kitchen. She was the living embodiment of “grandmother”: the warmth, comfort, and safety of that word shined through her smile. She had a beautiful smile and gave great hugs. She was “Grandma Pat” to anyone who needed someone to see them, hear them, make them feel special. G-Ma had the unique ability to make everyone feel like they were the most important person she saw that day.

“I’m so proud of you!”

      “I love you!”

You could always count on Patty to say the right thing at the right time. Although we are heartbroken with our sudden loss, we can always look back on the countless happy, comforting memories we have of our mother, our sister, our aunt, our grandmother, our godmother, our friend: Patty Jean Spychalla-Patrow.
