Jane Eckmann
January 3rd, 1949 - September 21st, 2025
Jane Christine Eckmann (nee Buschmann) Passed away on September 21, 2025 at the age of 76. She was surrounded by her entire family and many friends during the week prior to her passing. Jane battled cancer for the past two years. She fought this battle with courage, hopefulness, and grace. She was born on January 3, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI. Jane enjoyed being a member of several book clubs, a golf league, and bible study classes. For many years she was an active volunteer with the Waukesha Service Club. She tried very hard to attend many of the school events and other activities to watch and support her grandchildren. Jane always had a book to read and loved to talk about what she was reading. She loved playing board and card games. She could shuffle cards better than anyone. Jane was happiest when her family was together! This was especially the case at the Eckmann family cottage where she loved boating or looking at the beautiful scenery. After a bit of prodding by her grandchildren she would even go tubing when the weather was hot and the lake was calm. The annual Christmas Eve celebration at Jane’s house was the highlight of her year. She loved having a houseful of family and friends who she treated like family. Jane taught her family special life lessons: The only time it is okay to talk about the price of an item is when you get a really good deal; Always return your shopping cart; Always serve three types of crackers with cheese and crackers; Never leave your house without your bed made a; Home is where you sleep at night. Jane is going to be deeply missed by her loving sons Marc (Kathy) Eckmann of Roscoe, Illinois, Terry Eckmann of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Jonathan (Shannon) Eckmann of Waukesha, WI. Her greatest love was being a grandma to her adored granddaughters Kila Eckmann, Lola Eckmann, Addisyn Eckmann, and Meliya Eckmann. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Terry who she married on January 24, 1970 and enjoyed a wonderful life with him until his death in August 1999. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Stella Jane; mother Geraldine Buschmann; father Lambert Buschmann; nephew David Eckmann; brothers Peter Surges and Donald Surges; sister-in-law Dolores (Dodie) Surges; mother-in-law Dolores Eckmann; father-in-law Donald Eckmann; and brother-in-law Joel EckmannJane is also survived by her brother David (Karen) Surges, sister-in-law Ellen Eckmann, and brother-in-law Jeffrey (Doreen) Eckmann, many nieces and nephews, and friends. Jane is also survived by her very special companion of many years Lee Hanstedt of Racine, WI and his children Christian (Keri) Hanstedt of Mount Pleasant, WI and Chad Hanstedt of Arizona and Lee’s granddaughters Allyssa, Elizabeth, and Olivia Hanstedt. She so enjoyed being a part of the Hanstedt family.
