Margaret Walsh Mullis (November 9, 1965 - September 19, 2025)
Margaret Walsh Mullis, cherished mother, aunt, friend, and dog mom, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 19th. Margaret is survived by her beloved daughter, Christine McIntyre (Mark Burns) of Charlotte, as well as two nieces she helped raise, Alison Walsh (Aaron Toscano) of Gainesville, FL and Mary Walsh of Charlotte. She is survived by siblings Diane Walsh (Dick Pollak) of Portland, ME, Cynthia Weininger (Herbert) of Vienna, Austria, Donald Walsh (Nanette) of Shelby, NC; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Walsh (Jessica), Nathaniel Walsh (Stephanie), Timothy Walsh, Joshua Walsh, Michael Walsh (Megan), Elisabeth Walsh (Robbie Davichik), and Jennifer Walsh; as well as her former husband, June Mullis of Wadesboro, NC. She is preceded in death by her brother, Joel Walsh, and nephew Preston Walsh, both of Dallas, NC.
Margaret was born in New Jersey but lived most of her life in Charlotte. She attended Garinger High School and South Piedmont Community College. As a young mother, she worked hard inside and outside the home, eventually establishing a successful career as an Executive Assistant. She was a skilled and detail-oriented employee for Ryan Homes, Zachry Engineering, and recently joined BNI as Executive Assistant to the CEO, a role through which she embraced professional growth and world travel. For 25 years, Margaret ran an independent in-home dog sitting business, Camp Daisy. She was incredibly knowledgeable about dogs and caring for them was the great joy of her life. She will be missed and remembered by her own pets, Sammie and Ellie, as well as the many, many dogs who attended Camp Daisy.
Margaret was an extraordinary woman who will be remembered for her warmth, easy smile, and irreverent sense of humor. A natural caretaker who nurtured family, friends, and animals, she was a ray of sunshine to everyone she knew.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7th at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. Our services are crafted to honor your loved ones in ways that are both deeply meaningful and healing. Our rich history began in 1946 when Irvin W. Hankins and James B. Whittington took the reins of the Crouch Funeral Home. The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
