Gilbert Anthony Garcia, Jr.
December 26th, 1964 - August 28th, 2025
It is with great love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Gilbert Anthony Garcia Jr. (Lil Gil) on August 28, 2025, at his home in Bennett, Colorado. He was 60 years old.
Gilbert was born on December 26, 1964, in Denver, Colorado, and grew up in the Valverde neighborhood. He graduated from West High School and later attended Job Corps in Utah, where he studied Auto Body.
Gilbert had a lifelong passion for cars and was especially proud of owning his dream car, a Monte Carlo. He was also a devoted Denver Broncos fan—you could always find him dressed in orange and blue to cheer on his team. In addition to cars, Gilbert found joy in mowing his neighbors’ lawns, detailing vehicles, and spreading his cheerful spirit. He was known for his kindness, positivity, and the way he cared deeply for everyone he met.
Gilbert is survived by his beloved mother Emma Ortiz; his spouse Christine Lopez; his children Amanda Garcia, Gilbert Anthony Garcia III, and Brittany Garcia; his brothers Mike Garcia and Andrew Garcia; his grandson Isaiah Garcia; his closest friend Roland Steele; and his “road dog,” Buddy Joseph Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his father Gilbert Garcia Sr.; his brother James Garcia; and his grandsons Adrian Garcia and Beau Garcia.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Romero’s Funeral Home, 4750 Tejon St., Denver, CO 80211. A reception will follow. Donations are graciously accepted through GoFundMe, Cash App, Venmo, or in person.
Gilbert’s famous words will live on in the hearts of those who loved him:“Worrying makes the heart weak.”“Remember me, don’t forget me.”
