Roy William Thompson
August 16th, 1942 - September 15th, 2025
Roy William Thompson, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Roy was born in 1942 in Covington, Kentucky, and was raised by Albert and Thelma Thompson, who provided a loving home and shaped the values he carried throughout his life. As part of a Navy family, he grew up alongside his two brothers while living in several states—including Florida, Hawaii, California, and Maryland. He is survived by his two daughters, Stacia (Brett) Lucas and Kathleen Thompson, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalind Thompson.
After graduating from the University of Southern California in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in Business, Roy served his country with honor as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CV-61), where he carried out his duties with pride, professionalism, and a deep sense of patriotism.
Roy married the love of his life, Rosalind, in 1969. After a short time in Escondido, California, they settled in Renton, Washington, where they raised their family and built a life together.
Roy built a long and respected career in banking, earning the trust of his colleagues and clients through his integrity, kindness, and professionalism. In 1974, he earned his M.B.A. in Finance from U.S. International University, further strengthening his expertise in the field. He was also an active member of his community, serving with pride in organizations such as Rotary International, Chamber of Commerce, and the Lions Club.
In his free time, Roy enjoyed nothing more than being with his family. He loved fishing, hiking, visiting the shooting range, antiquing, and cheering on his beloved USC Trojans. For many years, he hosted spirited New Year’s Day football parties, bringing together friends and family to ring in the new year with laughter and good food. In his later years, Roy found unexpected joy in cooking—adding one more way to care for and connect with the people he loved.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
