Alfred "Al" N. Mahaley
November 14th, 1930 - September 23rd, 2025
In Loving Memory
Mr. Alfred "Al" N. Mahaley, 94, of Kernersville passed away on September 23, 2025 under the care of Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem. Born in Salisbury, North Carolina, he was the son of the late John and Etta (Talbert) Mahaley and husband of the late Edna Mahaley for over 72 years.
Al served his country as a member of the United States Army and served in Italy during the Korean War. Following his time in service, Al began working at Duke Power. Al retired from Duke Power after 38 years of service to the company. In his personal life, Al took great pride in two things: his yard and his cars. Both were always in pristine condition. Al loved traveling, especially with family. He and his brother, Jim, traveled around the country with their wives. Fishing trips were also a favorite activity. Al was the kind of man that lived life to the fullest, whether that was finding the excitement in the simple things like a hot cup of coffee or enjoying the company of his family. Al was incredibly dedicated to his wife, Edna, and the family takes comfort knowing that they are reunited together in Heaven for their 73rd wedding anniversary.
Al is survived by his children, Cynthia Graham (Carey) and Sheree Thornton (Doug); his grandchildren, Athan Hand (Julie), Cara Graham, Beth Franklin (Jacob), Taylor Mabe (Will); his great-grandchildren, Tyler Hand, Peyton Hand, Grayson Franklin; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Mahaley, Jasper Mahaley, Jim Mahaley, JoAnn Bostian, and Frances Mahaley.
The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, 213 W. Mountain St., Kernersville NC 27284 on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Funeral services will be at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 323 Hopkins Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 at 11:00AM with Pastor Elliott Lutz officiating. Interment will follow beginning at 12:00PM at Trading Ford Baptist Church Cemetery, 3600 Long Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146.
