David Ray Sage

David Ray Sage, 78, joined his family in spirit on Thursday September 11, 2025. David was an amazing soul who showed kindness, love, and laughter with everyone he knew. David was born in Seattle, Washington on December 20, 1946 to his parents Darwin Ray Sage and Lovey Helen Sage. David was the youngest of two children. David spent most of his life in Washington State where he met his wife, Linda Sage, and had two Children, Jeff Sage and Michelle Miller.
David and his family showed an adventure for life and love for family. David attended Auburn High School and graduated in 1965. He enrolled at Western Washington University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1973. While attending Western Washington University, he met his wife, Linda Sage, at a school dance. David and Linda were married on September 21, 1968. They purchased their first home, a duplex in Bellingham, Washington. David graduated from the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in basic law enforcement in 1975. He worked as the deputy sheriff of the Whatcom County Policy Department. Within this role, he was Team Commander for the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team where he was the counter-sniper. They then moved to Federal Way, Washington and lived in their home with their two children, Jeff and Michelle. After a successful career in the police force, David began working for Boeing as a software engineer in 1979. He graduated from City University with a Master of Business Administration in 1993. In 1991, David and family purchased their dream home in NE Tacoma and lived there until his retirement.
In 2003, David and Linda retired to Palm Desert, California where they enjoyed sunshine, golf, bocce ball, and friends. A few years later, David and Linda moved to Surprise Arizona where they enjoyed retirement and sunshine. To spend more time with their grandchildren, David and Linda became snowbirds and purchased a condominium in Tacoma, Washington in 2006. They moved back to Spanaway, Washington permanently in 2014 to be closer to family.
David is survived by his two children, Jeff Sage and Michelle Miller; six grandchildren Eden Miller, Brooklynn Sage, Noah Miller, Chase Sage, Junuh Miller, and Autzen Miller. David was very special to his family and enjoyed watching movies, playing golf, working on computers, and both playing and listening to music.
David was an amazing man who lived life for his family, love, and laughter. He will be deeply missed and will remain in the hearts of those who love him.
There will be a funeral service at Gethsemane Cemetery on Thursday September 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
