Judith E. Tryon Cox, age 81, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Born in Amsterdam and raised in Tribes Hill, Judy lived many years in Delmar, NY, briefly in Lexington, SC, and most recently back in Amsterdam. She graduated from Albany Business College and was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation before retiring from NYISO. Judy was a proud member of the NMPC 25 Year Club and the Elsmere Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Judy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—puzzles, crocheting, tending to her flowers, and spending time at the family’s camp on Sacandaga Lake. Judy had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, and she cultivated countless friendships across every stage of her life. She valued those connections deeply, staying in touch with friends near and far, and she was always ready with a phone call, card, or visit to keep those bonds alive. Her circle of friends was wide and lasting, and her presence in their lives will be missed dearly.

Judy was the devoted wife of the late Robert P. Cox of Delmar, NY. She is survived by her children: William (Charleen) Cox of Amsterdam, NY; Gary (Kathie) Cox of Kingston, NH; and Susan (Craig) Hartz of Lexington, SC. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Vrooman) Tryon of Tribes Hill, NY; sister of the late Carol Sprague and late Jane (Donald) Canfield. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Amanda (Aaron) Teune, Robert (Mara) Cox, Christopher (Kaitlyn) Cox, Steven (Emily) Cox, Griffin (Deseree) Goodemote, Brady Goodemote, and Colby Hartz, as well as five cherished great-granddaughters, brother-in-law David (Leslie) McCann, several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends who felt like family.

Calling hours will be held on October 17 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Judy’s life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Judy's memory may be made to the Edinburgh Volunteer Fire Company, 7 North Shore Rd, Northville, NY 12134.
