Ruby Bright, age 89 of Weber City, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at her home after a brief illness. Ruby was born on April 15, 1936, in Kingsport, TN to Claude and Margaret Falin. Ruby married Robert Lee Bright, and after 72 years, he survives. Ruby was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church, Gate City, for 60 years.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Jefferson Falin and Margaret “Maggie” Falin; brothers, Ralph Falin, Arthur Falin, Glen Falin, and Claude Falin; sisters, Virginia Felker, Georgia Lowe, and June Frazier; and nephew, Jerry Falin. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Lee Bright; son, Michael Bright and his wife, Theresa; sister-in-law, Nancy Falin; and nieces and nephews, Nancy Stanley, Angie Salyers, Theresa Shupe, Kathy Owens, Arthur Falin, Karen Sherman, Gwen Taylor, Sandy Miller, and Pam Collier.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Ruby’s dear friend, Kay Blanton; loving caregiver, Teresa Vermillion; nurses, Ms. Kristy, Tara, and Jena, for their love and kindness; and to the Ballad Hospice team.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Chris Lane and Evangelist Marvin Egan officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Holston View Cemetery at 11:00 am. Arthur Falin, Jerry Salyers, Scott Hammonds, Avery Hammonds, Chuck Stanley, David Shupe, Sam Owens, and Jeff Falin will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
