Elsie Mae Hiebert King
March 13th, 1941 - September 6th, 2025
Elsie Mae Hiebert King passed away on September 6th, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, due to breast cancer. She was 84 years old.
Elsie was born on March 13th, 1941, in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to parents Amcie Amos Hiebert and Mae Peppers Hiebert. She was the youngest of six siblings: Erven Hiebert, Clovis Hiebert, Florence Hiebert, Otto Hiebert, and Helen Hiebert. She graduated from Antioch High School in Antioch, California, in 1960 and went on to attend Butte College and Los Medanos College.
Elsie enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Corps in 1960. Afterwards, she had various work positions in different fields such as In Home Care, a convenience store, and housekeeping at a hotel. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Antioch, California, and later served as a solider in the Salvation Army in Sierra Vista, AZ.
She created life-long memories living in numerous interesting places - Oklahoma, California, Washington, Washington, D.C., Texas, Germany, Illinois, Georgia, and Arizona. On May 5th, 1961, she married Edward Arthur King in Maryland.
Elsie loved sports, especially baseball. She had a great sense of humor and an awesome smile that brightly lit up any room she entered.
She is predeceased by her husband: Edward King, her siblings: Erven Hiebert, Clovis Hiebert, Florence Marquis, Otto Hiebert, and Helen Jordan, and her nephews: Erven Hiebert Jr., Mitchell Hiebert, John Hiebert, and Larry Jordan. She is survived by her children: Lori King and Ralph King, her grandchildren: Amanda Walter and Erick (Darlene) Mason, her great-grandchildren: Janessa Webster, Tatiana Webster, John Webster Jr., Havannah Walter, Lylah Mason, Hannah Mason, and Octaviah Mason, and her nieces and nephews: Patti, Henry, Kristi, Valdi, Lorena, Ray, Jeff, Ken, Donna, and Bridget.
A memorial service will be held on October 11th, 2025, at the Salvation Army, Amphi Corps (218 E. Prince Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705) at 12:30pm. Potluck to follow. Karen Schmig will officiate. For more information, please call Lori King - 520-456-8935.
