Barbara Lynn Pantoni deChabert
October 7th, 1943 - September 6th, 2025
Barbara Lynn Pantoni deChabert (nee Kirkman) was born on October 7, 1943 in Greensboro, NC. She passed away on September 6, 2015 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Barbara fought the good fight until the end. She is survived by her husband of 39+ years, William (Bill) deChabert, her son Derek Pantoni, and her dog Mishka.
Barbara moved to Tampa, FL during her junior year of high school, and considered Tampa home. She was married to William Pantoni for ten years, and bore him a son, Derek.
Barbara worked in the medial field for approximately 22 years. In 1985 she met Bill, and the adventure began. They married in 1986 and headed to San Francisco. They were there for the 1989 earthquake. From there they moved Dallas, TX for two years where Barbara began a 26-year career with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The next move took her back to Tampa. Bill however ended up in El Paso, TX. Barbara moved to El Paso in 1994. As luck would have it, she arrived in time for the hottest summer up to that point in time.
In keeping with the adventure, El Paso became the jumping off point for many trips. She traveled to Tucson, AZ at least twice a year for dog shows, and to visit friends. Barbara traveled to Colorado Springs, Midland, Austin, Washington D.C., and Boston. She also visited Puerto Rico twice.
Her first love was her dogs. She became an avid supporter of Tibetan Terriers, and donated generously to animal groups.
She will be remembered as a kind and loving women devoted to her son and her pups.
