Gene Mobley
December 3rd, 1941 - September 17th, 2025
Gene Allen Mobley, 83, passed peacefully on September 17th, 2025, in Albuquerque.
Gene was born in Levelland, TX on December 3rd, 1941, to Thomas and Georgia (Green) Mobley. As a child, he moved to Albuquerque with his parents and siblings (T.H., Anita, and Kay). In 1961, Gene joined the US Army serving as Private First Class (Company D, 17th Infantry Division, 2nd S&I Platoon) guarding missiles in Korea. He then served as a Sergeant in the US Army Reserve. After his service, Gene returned to Albuquerque where he met Evelyn Arms. They were married November 9th, 1968. Gene spent much of his working life delivering bread for Rainbo and was known to many as "The Breadman".
Gene loved animals and the outdoors; he recounted his adventures in childhood of raising livestock, volunteering with animals, and exploring New Mexico's wilderness areas. Despite Evelyn's disapproval, Gene often traveled with his fishing pole in the car in case he stumbled upon a prime fishing spot.
Gene was preceded in death by his brother, T.H. and his wife, Evelyn. He is survived by his daughters Mackenzi Bostic (Chris) and Kasey Bevers (Michael), three grandchildren, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Gene was hardworking, honest, and loyal; values he prioritized as he and Evelyn raised their daughters. Though gruff by nature, his softness showed as he cared for Evelyn during her battle with cancer and when he gushed about his grandkids.
He is loved by many and will be missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to those with Harmony Home Health & Hospice and the staff at BeeHive Homes for their care, support, and kindness.
A private celebration of life will be held for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
