Mark Seal Lewis, Jr.

Mark S Lewis Jr, was born on November 28, 1959 in Natchez, Mississippi. He was the fifth child of six children born of Nancy P Lewis and Mark S Lewis Sr and their only son. 

He attended local elementary, middle schools and in 1978 he graduated from North Natchez High School. After graduating, Mark worked for the Mississippi Highway Transportation Department as a Road Surveyor and helped survey and construct four lane highways in the most rural and densely wooded areas of the state of Mississippi. October of 1978, Mark joined the military and became a member of the United States Air Force.

His first active duty assignment as an Airman Basic, was at Torrejon Air Base, Spain. In 1981, His second assignment as an Airman First Class, was at Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston, South Carolina, where he met his future wife Felicia, who was also stationed at Charleston AFB.

In 1982, and as a Senior Airman/Buck Sergeant, (E-4), they married and in 1983, Mark was relocated to Lowry AFB, Denver, Colorado, for training into a different and new job. 

After training was finished, he settled into his new job assignment at George AFB, located in the high desert of Victorville, California. There Mark was promoted to Staff Sergeant, (E-5), he and his wife Felicia had also welcomed their first child and baby girl, Loreal. 

In the spring of 1986, Mark and his family were reassigned to Misawa Air Base, Japan. Then, before a four year tour ended there, Mark and his wife, welcomed a second child, a boy, named Mark III. 

Spring of 1990, Mark was then assigned to Bergstrom AFB, Austin Texas. Then in 1993, due to the base closure, Mark and his family was reassigned to Davis-Monthan AFB, located in Tucson, Arizona. 

In July 1995 to July 1996, as a Technical Sergeant, (E-6), Mark was assigned to a remote, (unaccompanied), tour at Osan Air Base, South Korea. 

In July 1996, upon his return to the USA, Mark was reassigned back to Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ.

By this time, Mark was now moving up the ranks and reached the rank of Master Sergeant, (E-7), After several deployments for different campaigns and many awards, decorations and achievements, Mark excelled and reached the second highest enlisted rank of Senior Master Sergeant, (E-8). 

In the summer of 2000, Mark and his wife welcomed their third child and another baby girl named Chanel. 

By 2004, Mark had an illustrious military career. He then decided that it had been 26 years of enlisted active duty service and that he would retire and go the route of Civil Service duty.

In December 2004, Mark retired from active duty with numerous accolades, achievements and service medals. In July, 2005, Mark went back to work in the same exact job, due the military converting his and other former active duty positions, into civilian service positions. 

Here Mark excelled and again was recognized and rewarded for his contributions and job performances.

In spring 2025, Mark decided that he would fully retire from the workforce, after serving just over 20 years working as a civil service servant. He was on terminal leave from his job, when he passed away suddenly. Mark was scheduled to officially fully retire from the workforce on 30 September 2025. 

Mark is survived by his wife Felicia of 43 years, his children, Loreal, Mark III, and Chanel, his grandchildren Hassan, Mark, and Reyes, his sisters, Sidney, Dorothy, Carrott and Barbara, nieces Marlaine and Sierra, great niece Nova, brother-in-law Charles, niece Charlette, nephew Casey, sister in law Mindy, and brother-in-law, Felix, nieces Shaylynn and Keyana, nephews Mason, Chance and Gabriel, two uncles, and many first, second, and third cousins.
