Ruby E. Allen
August 20th, 1936 - September 10th, 2025
Ruby E. Allen passed away, peacefully, with her son, Craig, and longtime family friend, Jason Cook, by her side, on September 10, 2025. Ruby was born on August 20, 1936 in Rose Hill, Virginia. Later, she moved, with her family, to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she spent her childhood and teen years. She attended Knoxville Evening High School. Ruby worked as a nursing assistant at Baptist Hospital. During this time, she met Phillip F. Allen, who proved to be the true love of her life. The two married on June 21, 1956 and enjoyed traveling extensively, including Japan, where their eldest son, Phillip Jr., and daughter, Teresa, were born, as Phillip was enlisted as a medic in the United States of America Air Force. She was an Air Force wife for twenty-four years of their marriage when Phillip retired. The retirement years were still very busy for Phillip and Ruby. Aside from raising four children, Phillip went to Pima Community College and studied general business while Ruby studied business and interior design. Phillip and Ruby came to starting their own successful businesses, including a mobile restaurant, Ruby’s Mini Deli, as well as Allen's Upholstery and Supplies – keeping busy for more than twenty years. After Phillip's death, Ruby owned and operated the business, herself, and subsequently became a cosmetics supervisor for a major retail chain, Walgreen’s. Ruby was a kind, funny, charismatic, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to anyone she met. She loved to travel, read, and renovate her homes. She was married to Phillip for thirty-nine years and mother to Phillip F. Allen Jr., Teresa Lynne Allen, Ruby Denise Allen (Reinke), Douglas Craig Allen....loving grandmother to Deanne Albert (Reinke) and Mark Phillip Reinke, and beloved great grandmother to Mark Caden Reinke, Holly Lynne Reinke, and Benjamin Jaxon Albert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip F. Allen, eldest son, Phillip Jr., eldest daughter, Teresa Lynne Allen, her parents, and various other family members. Graveside services will be held 10/14/2025 at 1 pm at the Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery.
