Vickey Vadare Oestreich White was called home to be with her Lord on September 25, 2025. Vickey was born on June 21, 1945, in Ontario, Oregon.

She faced many health challenges from a young age. The family moved to Boise to be closer to medical care. She graduated from Boise High School in 1964, then went on to study at Boise Junior College (BSU) and Westminster in Salt Lake. Vickey obtained a teaching degree. Although a traditional classroom setting was not a good fit for her, she spent the rest of her life teaching us all.

From the age of six, she knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In 1970, she met Danny (her answer to her prayers) and they were married June 17, 1971. In 1972, they welcomed their first son, Daniel. In May of 1973, they were involved in a tragic accident and lost Daniel. Vickey received a closed head injury; her prognosis for full recovery was very dim. Vickey went on to live a full and happy life, always doing her best to keep her brain sharp. In 1974, John was born, then in 1977, Jennifer arrived.

Vickey was an active volunteer at the library and school while her children were young. She was very involved in church activities. She was always ready to share a kind word with all she came into contact with. Vickey loved music, flowers, horses, children’s literature, and reading. Her love for her family, both biological and those chosen by love, never waned. Even in her final days, she was still concerned about how “we” were doing. Vickey’s kind and selfless nature and true love for God and for us all were her greatest gifts. Vickey will be remembered so very fondly and missed so deeply. “May I tell you that Jesus loves you?”

Vickey is preceded in death by her son, Daniel E. White; beloved husband, Danny White; parents, Don and Helen Oestreich; grandparents, Gus and Emma Pimpke; grandparents, Will and Alice Curts; aunt and uncle, Glenys and Roy Curts; cousin, Fern Curts; brother, Bill Oestreich; brothers-in-law, Elmer White and Denver White; great grandson, Yannis Tarlas; and dear friends, Rick and Cathy Rhodes.

She is survived by her son, John White; daughter, Jennifer White; goddaughter, Maria Truempler; brother-in-law, Allen White; sister-in-law, Carla Oestreich; cousins, Rita and Reg James and Laura Montgomery; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; grandchildren: Lindsay, Joey, Danielle, Jacob, Parker, Samantha, Krystal, Krista, Deven, Sophie, Taria, and Jesse; several great grandchildren; and a great number of friends and family in Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at11:00 am at the Homedale Assembly of God Church, 15 W. Montana Avenue in Homedale, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4255 E. Fairview Avenue in Boise.

“There are days when you realize that true beauty was never in the mirror at all. It’s in the way you speak softly when the world feels loud. It’s in the kindness that lingers after you’ve left a room. It’s in the patience you show when things don’t go your way. A pretty face may fade with time, but a pretty heart – that stays. It shines through laughter shared, through forgiveness given, through every small act of love that expects nothing in return. Beauty is in the way you care for others, in the way you notice the lonely ones, and in the way you keep believing in goodness, even when the world forgets how. Because at the end of it all, it’s not what’s seen that makes a soul beautiful – it’s what’s felt when someone’s heart is made a little lighter because of you."

Inspired by the gentle wisdom of A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh
