Diuguid Funeral Services & Crematory - Timberlake
Thomas "Tom" Alan Taylor
May 15th, 1943 - October 1st, 2025
Tom Taylor, 82, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2025, after a tough year, with his beloved wife, Roberta, by his side and his close family around him.
Born in 1943, Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy, following in the footsteps of his father. At a Navy dance, he met Roberta, the northern girl who would become the love of his life, and the two later married. They shared 57 years of marriage, building a life rooted in devotion and commitment, and raising two children together. Their journey was marked by both deep joy and profound sorrow, including the loss of their eldest son, Gary, at a young age. Through it all, Tom’s reliability and calm presence helped carry the family forward, and he took great pride in his surviving son, David, and daughter-in-law, Nisha, with whom he sometimes shared moments practicing the Arabic he had learned in the Navy.
Tom lived fully, and his interests reflected his adventurous spirit and sharp mind. He loved ham radio, Stephen King novels, backgammon, sailing, and taking short trips to the Outer Banks. Earlier in life, he also enjoyed skiing. He loved cars and was always showing up with anew one.
Tom built his career at GE, Ericksson, and Tyco, where he was valued for his dependability and consistency—qualities that carried through every part of his life.
He poured that same steadiness into his family, cheering on David from the stands as his biggest baseball fan, and inspiring Gary to become a serious triathlete. Above all else, Tom’s greatest love was Roberta, who stood by his side through every season of life and remained there until his final breath. He was preceded in death by his son Gary and his sister Carol. He leaves behind Roberta, his son David and daughter-in-law Nisha, many nieces and nephews, and all who will remember him with affection.
A small, private graveside service will be held.
