Teri Rae Haynes
September 16th, 1950 - September 25th, 2025
Teri R. Haynes, formerly known as Teri Bailey, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, after bravely battling Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on September 16, 1950, in Portland, Oregon. Teri’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and dedication to caring for others, which she demonstrated throughout her lengthy career as a Registered Nurse.
Teri graduated from Adna High School in 1968 and later earned an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1983. She devoted 35 years to her profession, providing exemplary care in Pulmonology at Memorial Clinic in Olympia, Washington, before retiring in August 2018. Known for her strong work ethic and organized nature, Teri was deeply respected by her colleagues and cherished by her patients.
Teri R. Bailey married Gary I. Haynes on July 19, 1968, in Lewis County, Washington.
She lived happily in the Jubilee Community in Lacey, Washington for the last 20 years.
Teri possessed a vibrant personality that drew people to her. She was known for being confident, courageous, and fiercely independent. Those who knew her would describe her as helpful, honest, trustworthy, and loving. She brought joy into the lives of her family and friends, deeply valuing the connections she fostered throughout her life.
Her love for travel took her on adventures, on Alaskan cruises to exploring the beauty of Europe, including, England, Ireland, and Scotland. Teri cherished her yearly trips to Cannon Beach with her girlfriends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and warmth. She also enjoyed sunny summers spent in Palm Springs where relaxation and fun were always on the itinerary.
In addition to her zest for travel, Teri had a passion for games, often gathering with family and friends to play Pinochle, Parcheesi, Dominoes, Mahjong, and Spoons. Music was another cherished aspect of her life, with James Taylor and the sounds of the '60s, music resonating deeply in her heart. She eagerly attended shows at the 5th Avenue Theatre having season tickets, sharing the passion with loved ones who enjoyed the arts as much as she did.
Teri leaves behind her daughter Rochelle Tepponen and husband Robert; son Rodney Haynes; brother Lawrence Bailey and wife Elaine; nieces Christine Shannon and husband Michael, Charlyn Bradford, Catherine Cokos and husband John; nephews Jason Bailey, and Jeramy Bailey; as well as brother-in-law Gerald Mineard. One granddaughter, one grandson and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary I. Haynes; her parents, Haskell and Peggy Bailey; sister Linda G. Mineard and her twin sister, Sheri K. Bailey.
As we remember Teri, we hold close the love and strength she shared. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
While she may no longer be with us, we take comfort knowing she is walking beside God in the eternal peace.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 starting at 11:00 am at Funeral Alternatives 455 North Street SE, Tumwater WA 98501
