Kenneth I. Outwater Jr., age 90, passed away from natural causes on September 22, 2025 in Oro Valley AZ. Ken was born in Rockville Center, NY and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Daria Outwater. Ken and Daria married in Mayfield, PA on July 12, 1958 after graduation from Penn State University. Ken started his career in Venice, LA as a petroleum engineer with Getty Oil Company and retired as a Lease Asset Manager in 1994 after 36 years with Chevron. Through the years Ken’s work required many transfers resulting in he and Daria living in Louisiana, Texas, California, Colorado, and Arizona to name a few. These moves allowed them to make many friends and even more memories along the way. Ken’s greatest passion in life were his dogs. He had many, many great dogs and we are sure they are all waiting to welcome him home. Ken enjoyed singing in the choir with Resurrection Lutheran Church as well as sailing, photography, scuba diving, and flying. Ken was an avid fly fisherman who never missed an opportunity to fish. He fished from Long Island to Alaska with his sons, logging multiple “trips of a lifetime” on Alaskan rivers. In his later years, Ken enjoyed golf and was also an avid reader of science-fiction. Ken and Daria were fortunate to have been able to travel the world together, seeing places such as The Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt, the Great Wall of China, Greece, multiple trips to Spain with a favorite professor, the Spice Islands, Machu Picchu, and many others. Ken is survived by his loving wife Daria; two sons Keith J. Outwater of Oro Valley, AZ; Scott E. (Michele) Outwater of Houston, TX; two granddaughters Bailey (Colin) Hawkins of Orlando, FL; Kendal Outwater of Charlotte, NC; proud Eagle Scout grandsons Ethan Outwater of Renton, WA; and Evan Outwater of Seattle, WA. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth I. Outwater Sr. and Helen D’atri Outwater. At the family’s request there will be no services at this time.
