Carol Louise DePorterAugust 24, 1942 – September 25, 2025

Carol Louise DePorter passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 24, 1942, in Greeley, Colorado, Carol was the cherished daughter of James Thane Turner and Ida Irene (Small) Turner. She grew up in the small town of Nunn, Colorado, alongside her older brother, Jim (Ponch), and younger sister, Irene, forming close family bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Carol graduated from Nunn High School in 1960, where she was a spirited cheerleader and made many lifelong friends. It was during those school years that she met the love of her life, Butch DePorter. She went on to earn her degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, remaining a proud and loyal CSU Ram throughout her life. Carol was an enthusiastic supporter of CSU athletics and could always be counted on to cheer for her team.

On February 22, 1963, Carol and Butch were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. Shortly thereafter, they made their home on a ranch north of Nunn, where they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and love. Carol devoted herself to raising their two children, Amanda (Mandi) and Clinton (Clint), and during their younger years, she also spent time teaching. Later, she found fulfillment in her work at the Highland Veterinary Clinic in Ault and eventually retired as the office manager for a Colorado Engineering Experimental Site Incorporated.

Carol had a nurturing heart and played an important role in the lives of her grandchildren—Carson, Cache, and Chase—helping to care for them as they grew up and proudly cheering them on in all they did.

A devoted fan of all things sports, Carol never missed a CSU game, a Denver Broncos matchup, or a moment of the Olympics. Her TV was nearly always tuned to a sporting event, and she loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s games.

In her later years, Carol found joy in the simple pleasures—taking drives around the ranch with Butch to check on their Angus cattle, tending to her garden, exercising, solving crossword puzzles, and diving into books, especially true crime. She was also an active volunteer at the Nunn Drylander’s Museum, where she helped preserve the history of the community she loved. Known for her sweet tooth, Carol was famous among family and friends for her delicious homemade cheesecakes.

Carol’s gentle spirit, warm heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Butch; her children, Amanda, and Clinton (Katie); and her grandchildren, Carson, Cache, and Chase. She is also survived by her brother Jim Turner (Katie), her sister Irene Manion (Jim), and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

A Life Celebration for Carol will be held on Friday October 10, 2025 at Adamson Life Celebration home 2000 47th Avenue Greeley CO 80634 starting at 10am with a reception to follow.

Burial will be the same day at Mountain View Cemetery in Nunn CO at 2:30PM
