Donna Marie Favor
July 25th, 1955 - October 2nd, 2025
Donna Marie Favor, age 70, passed away on October 2, 2025 in Tucson, AZ surrounded by her family.
Donna was born in Dearborn, Michigan to John and Betty Bechtol of Garden City, Michigan on July 25, 1955. She is survived by her son Michael G. Favor and son-in-law Frankie Schiavone, granddaughter Jesalina, brother John (Janie), sister Liz, and many nieces and nephews. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband Mike, her parents and siblings Ron and Jane.
Donna graduated from Garden City East High School in 1973. She was close and active with friends and her church, Garden City Free Methodist.
Donna married Michael W. Favor on May 7, 1976 after being set up on a blind date by Mike’s aunt two years prior. Donna and Mike were in their 48th year of marriage and a total of 50 years together at the time of his passing.
Following the wedding, Donna moved into a house Mike had recently purchased next door to his parents. Donna worked for a short time but quit shortly before she gave birth to her son. She stayed home to focus her time on raising her son and caring for her family. She would go back to work as Michael got older, but her focus was always her family even as that part time role grew into managing the mail operation for the Ford Motor Company engineering center.
The years that followed were a wonderful time for her and Mike. Donna, Mike and Michael took many family trips both in out of Michigan. During the trips in Michigan, Donna and Mike passed along their love of the outdoors to their son. Donna and her son would travel frequently to her sister Janes home, whom she was extremely close, for weekends to play in the snow in the winter and lake in the summer and spend time with her niece and nephews. When not at Jane’s for the weekend she, Mike and Michael would frequently travel to Tecumseh to spend the day at her brother Ron and sister-in-law’s Juanita’s farm. Here she had many laughs and fun times with her nieces and nephew.
Donna had many important dogs that were always part of the family from Sparkles upon getting married followed by Sable, Sydney, Mannix, Cali, Reagan and most recently she adopted Ghost. She also enjoyed taking care of her son Michaels’ family dog, Mocha.
After retirement, Mike and Donna moved to Phoenix in the early 2010s to be closer to their son. In 2020 they moved to Tucson to join their son and his future husband Frankie. Donna and Mike were overjoyed when Michael and Frankie welcomed their daughter Jesalina to their family. Next to being a mother, Donna loved being a grandma to Jesalina. During these years she spent many hours with Jesalina. Afternoons in the pool for family swimming that quite frequently led to Jess staying at grandmas for the night and another hour to three of night swimming. Movies were also frequent hangout for Donna and Jess. She and her son-in-law began quite a fascination with Facebook marketplace where they would mostly buy but occasionally sell. One of the most frequented items were Snow Village pieces they would find.
Donna was a kind, loving and welcoming person. Her presence will be greatly missed by her family and all those fortunate enough to know her love and kindness.
There will be a private service for immediate family members in Tucson. A memorial in Michigan will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Donna’s memory to Southern Arizona Humane Society at 520-327-6088 or https://support.hssaz.org/give/163875/#!/donation/checkout.
