Cecelia "Cissy" M. Elm
March 8th, 1945 - October 6th, 2025
Cecelia (Cissy) M. Elm, 80, of LaFayette, NY. passed away on Monday, October 6th after battling a long illness. She was born in Syracuse on March 8th 1945 to the late Constance Schenandoah and Wilbur (Reynolds) Homer Sr.
Cissy graduated with an MSW from Syracuse University and served as an administrator for Indigenous programs in Syracuse, NYC and the Onondaga Nation. After retirement, she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent in the S.C.S.D. Cissy was also friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. A lifelong crafter, Valley Den Mother, Hillbrook Family Host and an avid pizza lover who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Cissy was predeceased by her grand daughter, Seana Doyle and brothers, Sparky and Feathers Schenandoah.
She is survived by her children, Edward O'Brien, William (Shannon Dexter) O'Brien Jr., Donald (Nancy Liszewski) O'Brien and Shannon Campbell O'Brien; grandchildren, Kurtis, Billy III (Brie) O'Brien, Mackenzie (Matthew) Hayes, Alexandra (Danda) and Joseph Campbell; great grandchildren, Troian, Madsen and Reven Hayes; her sister, Davelene (Dee Dee) Hopkins; William J. O'Brien Sr. and many cousins, relatives and friends.
Calling hours will start at 10AM Tuesday, October, 7th at Bill's House, 5821 Bull Hill Road, LaFayette, NY 13084.
Service and burial will be on Friday, October, 10th at 10AM at Onondaga Valley Cemetery followed by Onondaga Nation Fire barn.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Katrina and Naomi from Hospice of Central New York and the team at Upstate.
