Richard J. Gray, 89, of Turnersville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Legacy

Richard was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 28, 1935 into what can only be described as a blue collar part of town (Kensington) and family, which is where he learned his impressive work ethic and value of a dollar.  It was during his teenage years that he found it necessary to be working to help support his family, which ultimately led him to the Daily News/Philadelphia Inquirer where he was able to forge a 31-year career.  During that time, he met the love of his life, Marcella, and they were married in 1975.  Living in Upper Darby early in their marriage, they started a beautiful family and had both Colleen Meghan (1977) and Richard Benjamin (1978).  They eventually moved their family over the river and into the South Jersey suburbs in 1983, where Richard has proudly remained in his first home until the time of his death.  Richard loved many things, but after the passing of his wife in 2008, it became evident that his grandchildren became a source of strength for him and he was thrilled to welcome Lillian in 2024.  He will be missed, but we’ll take comfort in knowing that everyone who knew him surely has a funny story or words of wisdom they remember that will bring joy when they think of Richard.
