In Loving Memory
Fay (Cummings) Smith, 82, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, in Lexington, South Carolina. Born on November 6, 1942, in Lumberton, North Carolina, Fay lived a life marked by faith, resilience, and joy.
She was the daughter of Oscar and Flora Belle Cummings and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Floyd and sons Mark and Timothy. Despite the hardships she faced throughout her life, Fay remained steadfast in her faith and was known for her unwavering positivity. She often shared her testimony with others, speaking openly about how good the Lord had been to her-even during life's most difficult moments.
Fay found great joy in simple pleasures and treasured time spent with family. Whether riding jet skis with loved ones or gathering around the table for a hearty meal, she embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories. Her Sundays were devoted to worship at Mt. Horeb Church, where she actively participated in programs such as Vacation Bible School and the Bridge Program. Her church community held a special place in her heart and was an extension of her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Laurice Mears (Barry) and Kimberly Whyde, grandchildren Lexi Whyde, Danika Whyde, Brandon Smith, Charley (Valerian) Riviere, and Joshua Mears, and great-grandchildren Sebastien Riviere and Julien Riviere. There are also numerous brothers and sisters along with other extended family near and far that will hold her memories close to their hearts. Each of them carries forward a part of Fay's enduring spirit-her warmth, strength, and deep-rooted faith.
Fay's legacy is one of love for life and devotion to God. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with gratitude and grace. May her memory bring comfort to all who were blessed to know her. She is now in the Heavenly arms of God rejoicing with those who have gone before her.
A visitation will be held on October 8, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Mt. Horeb Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, 2:00 service with graveside burial immediately following.
