Wendy Sue Hoyle, 70, of Ellicott, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ALS.

Wendy was born on October 13, 1954, in Renton, Washington. She grew up in Hanover, Colorado, with her mother Arlis and Stepfather Glen Adams as one of ten siblings, where her deep sense of love, family, and perseverance first took root. A proud graduate and valedictorian of Hanover High School.

For 50 beautiful years, Wendy shared her life with her devoted husband, Leland Hoyle. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and family. They began their journey in Meeker, Colorado, before settling in Ellicott, where they raised six children: Becky (Jeff), Kristy (Jeremy), Dallas (Angel), Amy, Brenda (James), and Melissa (Kelvin). Wendy’s heart overflowed with love for her 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were her greatest joy and pride.

Wendy had a gentle spirit and a heart of gold. She loved her greenhouse and small garden each year that brought her great joy and peace. Wendy even grew a prize winning tomato. She baked the most delicious cakes and breads, and her beautifully crocheted blankets became keepsakes that will be cherished for generations. She was the first to remember every birthday and special occasion, always making sure others felt loved and celebrated. She especially loved her down time listening to music, watching shows like NCIS, visiting with her sweetheart Leland while watching his black & white shows, and painting by number on her phone.

She was an animal lover who loved horses, and her three little dogs. Mikki, Meggi, and Legend — who brought her constant comfort and unconditional love.

Wendy’s love for life was vibrant, and her home bloomed with plants and yellow roses. A devoted Denver Broncos fan, she brought warmth, humor, and a sense of togetherness to every family gathering and holiday.   For the past 19 years, Wendy worked as the manager of Assurance Storage, where she treated her customers like family and was known for her kindness, hard work, and generosity.

A highlight of Wendy’s life was achieving a lifelong dream — her beautiful black truck, proudly named “MYDMTRK.” It was more than just a vehicle; it represented a dream fulfilled and a well-deserved joy for a woman who always put others first.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her brother Randy, and her grandson Ian.

She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, love, and strength — one that lives on in her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Wendy had a special way of caring for the overlooked — the underdog, the toy no one wanted, the person who needed love most — and she gave of herself freely and fully.

We take comfort in knowing that as Wendy entered Heaven, she was met by her beloved Grandma Myrtle, the two of them sharing fresh-baked bread and laughter once again. Wendy loved the ocean deeply — the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand, the peace of collecting seashells. Now, she walks along Heaven’s shore for all eternity, free from pain, surrounded by love.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the ALS Association in Wendy’s memory to help find a cure: https://www.als.org/ways-give.

Wendy will be forever missed, but her love will live on — in every laugh, every memory, every heartbeat of the family she so dearly cherished.
