Marie "Nana" Johnson
January 23rd, 1951 - September 7th, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marie “Nana” Johnson, who left us on September 7, 2025, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, dementia, and COPD. Born January 23, 1951, Longview, WA, Marie dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her 4 children and several foster children during her lifetime. She also loved being a caregiver to others.
Marie’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved holiday family gatherings, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marie also enjoyed macrame, making beautiful crochet blankets, watching the Seahawks play football, and listening to music.
Marie is survived by her mother, Rose M. Chadderton, brother, Michael (Susan) Chadderton, daughter, Tara (Dylan) Majerus, 3 sons, Jay (Mindy) Elie, Jonathan (Jennifer) Purcell, Timothy Purcell; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father (Lawrence Chadderton), older sister (Sherry Potter), and younger brother who passed at the young age of 8 months old (Ricky Chadderton).
A Celebration of Life for Marie will be held on November 15, 2025, at the Owl’s Nest - 210 Cedar St, Roy, WA 98580 from 2-6 pm. Please join us for food and drinks to honor Marie while listening to her favorite music and sharing special moments. She leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable memories and will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
