Gordon R. Miller

Gordon Rees Miller, 85, of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2025.

Gordon was a graduate of Cheshire High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont, and a master’s degree from the Wharton School of Business.

Gordon had a varied and successful career in human resources, working for such well-known companies as Parker Brothers, Tropicana, and Circle K. He retired to Hilton Head Island (in his parents’ home) in 2001 where he worked for 20 years at the Hilton Head Public Library and for several years as a starter ranger at the Port Royal Golf course.

Gordon was also an exceptional athlete, playing basketball and baseball in high school for Cheshire High School.

Gordan had a great love for Native American culture and became an avid collector.  Those who visited him in Sea Pines were always in awe of his beautiful collection.

As the saying goes, Gordon never met a stranger. He was a warm, friendly, and caring soul who touched many lives with his open personality and genuine concern for others. He was a good listener, and someone you could count on for good advice or just a sympathetic ear.  He was known as the “Don of Hilton Head” at several of his favorite restaurants. His interactions with people were genuine, and he touched many lives.

Gordon is survived by his wife Shirlee Ann; his daughter Sharon (husband, Chris); his son Ken (wife, Wendy); his grandchildren Lauren and Carter; and his stepchildren Trayc and Joe.

A celebration of life will be held at The Seabrook on Saturday, October 11 at 2-4:30pm.
