Obituary for David Henry Mehaffey  

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Henry Mehaffey, who departed this life peacefully on 10/10/2025 at the age of 76.  

Born on April 4, 1949, David lived a life defined by courage, devotion, and love. A proud United States Marine, he served his country with honor and distinction—embodying the Marine Corps values of duty, loyalty, and strength that would guide him throughout his life. David loved hunting, fishing, spending time in the woods, and spending time with his family.  

After his service, David carried that same dedication into everything he did, from his career to his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a man of integrity, quiet humor, and deep compassion—always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a story that reminded everyone of what truly matters.  

David was proceeded in death by his father Henry Mehaffey. David is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce Mehaffey, his two children, Jason (Annette) Mehaffey, Kathleen (Wayne) McKinney, three grandchildren, Courtney (Michael) King, Julia (Anthony) Padron, Jessica (Ryan) Gibson, seven great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jaxon, Peyton, Elijah, Issac, Brilyn, and Henley, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy of strength, faith, and unconditional love lives on through them.  

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 1pm-4pm at 1010 Lakeshore Drive, Auburndale 33823.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a Veterans’ Organization of your choosing, in his memory.
