Talaat Joyce Lanz
March 10th, 1944 - September 22nd, 2025
Talaat Joyce Lanz, 81, of Creswell Oregon, passed away on September 22nd, 2025 after suffering cardiac arrest due to complications from kidney failure.
Talaat was born on March 10th, 1944 to Joseph and Zeenat Khan in Gujranwala, Pakistan. After Talaat graduated from Cathedral High School in Lahore Pakistan and in 1962 she went to work for Pakistani International Airlines as a hostess on international flights and later had her first child, Martin, in 1966. Between the years of 1965 and 1967 she worked with the Pakistani government to secure permission to air drop Christian leaflets over the city of Lahore, a first ever event.
In 1970 Talaat met Lloyd Eugene Lanz in Lahore Pakistan. She immigrated to the United States in 1972 and they were married in Coburg, Oregon. Talaat went on to have two more children, Jeffrey in 1974 and Timothy in 1980, and she worked in both the service and food processing industries during this time.
After the death of her Mother Zeenat in 1984, Talaat returned to Pakistan in where she filed sponsorship papers for her entire family all of whom immigrated to the United States over the next 11 years, except for her father who passed away in 1987.
After divorcing in 1987, she continued to work while pursuing and eventually obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature in 1997. She then embarked on a career in the clerical and administrative field, culminating in an office position at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In 2004, Talaat retired and returned to Oregon to be near her children and grandchildren. She spent her time cooking, in bible study, taking care of her grandchildren—even returning to work as a Direct Support Person for her youngest grandson—and as a dedicated member of a vibrant church community.
Talaat was predeceased by a sister, Ruth, two brothers John and Peter, her son Martin, and her ex-husband, Eugene. She is survived by several younger brothers and sisters and her sons Timothy and Jeffrey.
A memorial celebrating her life will be held at University Fellowship Church on October 17th starting at 12:00 pm.
