Sally A. Seth

Sally Seth caught the last flight of her storied life on September 22, 2025 at her home in Longmont, Colorado. Born on July 26, 1938 to her loving parents Richard and Evelyn (Schaal) Bush, she was the older sister to her “doctor brother” Dick. Sally is survived by her children Todd (MariJo), Amy (Deb) and Scott (Tina), her brother and sister-in-law Dick and Barb Bush, grandson Christopher (Heidi), great grandchildren Malakai and Andi, special cousin Carol Privette and devoted feline Harry. Preceded in death by parents and Robert Seth to whom she was married and later divorced.

A lifelong educator and learner, Sally completed her undergraduate degree in education at the University of Toledo and a Master’s at Colorado State University. While at TU, she was the chairman of Freshman Week, worked on the school paper, was a Pepper, President of Chi Omega Sorority and was an inductee into Who’s Who Among American Students for her involvement and dedicated service. The skills she developed at TU served as the basis for her professional involvement across three states and three countries as educator, responsible citizen and social advocate.

She taught school in Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, Australia and Indonesia. At each stop, she demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness and a conviction that all children could learn if they believed in themselves. She was determined to provide that support for each unique child and served as an example and mentor to her colleagues. Many of these colleagues became lifelong and cherished friends.

Her quest to learn was evident in her passion for travel. The world was Sally’s classroom. She had such varied interests- birds, antiques, books, opera, pearls, history, social justice to name a few. She visited five of the seven continents and collected carvings, tapestries, furniture, pottery, paintings, jewelry and other artifacts to decorate her home. Her home competes with small museums. Each piece has a story as only Sally could tell it making sure the tale offered humor and some fact about the location. She often said, “You aren’t a real traveler until you spend some time living in “their” culture. Her residencies in Australia and Indonesia as well as her Grand Circle trips that opened the doors of local residents on the routes and supported her perspective of various cultures.

There were numerous circles of friends in Sally’s life. She cherished each group and each person. There were book clubs, dinner groups, P.E.O. Chapter FD, Questers, APEX, Steel Magnolias, BUNCA Club to name a few. She had friends across the globe and she kept track of quite a number of them through cards, post cards and notes. She LOVED to write notes and cards. One year she sent 366 cards (leap year) to brighten someone’s day. Sally especially treasured her lifetime friendship with Sandy who was her friend since she was three!

Sally had a keen entrepreneurial spirit. She created a business after she retired from teaching called “Sally’s Bloomers” that she used to sell antiques. After she lived in Indonesia where she discovered fresh water pearls, she opened a second venture she called “Pearls of Wisdom” that allowed her to combine the sale of her treasures.

Across her lifespan, Sally demonstrated an unwavering faith in God from her Lutheran roots to her Presbyterian legacy. However, her life journey might be better characterized by a Methodist theologian…”Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can… “ She was a servant leader and gave of her time, talent and treasure through roles such as service as a Deacon at Central Presbyterian, Stephen’s Ministry, hospice volunteer. She did a mission trip to Zambia that was life changing for her. She also tutored immigrants seeking citizenship, participated in a program to support the re-entry of incarcerated women into society.

Sally Seth loved life and she supported her family, friends, colleagues, neighbors and students with all her being. She took pride in the accomplishments of others and supported THEIR efforts to serve others. A memorial service will be held for Sally at the Central Presbyterian Church located at 402 Kimbark Street in Longmont, Colorado on October 15 at 2:00 PM Reverend Dr. David Barker officiating. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at Hover House located at 1309 Hover Street in Longmont, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests tributes in Sally’s name be directed to P.E.O. Chapter FD- Marguerite Fund, Colorado N.P.R. or Longmont Historical Society.
