Thomas "Paul" Rosser
November 5th, 1929 - October 10th, 2025
Thomas “Paul” Rosser (95) passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Willow Brooke Court in Matthews, NC just weeks shy of his 96th birthday. Paul was born on November 5, 1929, the youngest child of six to T. Raymond and Mary Mims Rosser in Broadway, NC. He graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1947 and Elon University in 1952. While working on his MBA at UNC-Chapel Hill, Paul was drafted and served in the United States Army Counter-Intelligence Corps from 1953 to 1956. He was trained at Fort Holabird in Baltimore, Maryland, stationed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was honorably discharged. After his military service, Paul moved to Greenville, SC where he worked for Armstrong Cork Company.
In 1961, Paul married Janet Allison in Houston, Texas. Daughters Allison and Paula were born in Greenville, SC and the family eventually settled in Charlotte, NC. After 19 years with Armstrong Cork Company, Paul started Premtec, Inc. from which he retired in 1996. After retirement, Paul and Jan traveled extensively with a group of friends fondly known as “the Drifters.” In 2012, Paul and Jan moved to Matthews Glen Retirement Community where they made many wonderful new friends.
Paul was an active member of Sardis Presbyterian Church for 55 years where he was an Elder, Deacon, Clerk of the Session and served on numerous committees.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by all of his siblings and their spouses, Dr. Neill Albert Rosser (Grace), Raymond “Doc” Rosser (Louise), Frances Elder (Wilton), Elizabeth Hines (Bill) and Eunice Campbell (Robert), nephew Donald Paul Rosser, nieces Patty Hines and Beth Elder Ellington. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet Allison Rosser, his daughters, Allison Rosser Barnhill (Mike) and Paula Rosser Jackson (David), his grandchildren who called him “Popie,” Jordan Barnhill Porfilio (Michael), Grady Paul Barnhill, David E. Jackson III and Allison Parker Jackson, great grandsons, Aaron Anthony Porfilio and baby due in January 2026, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 at 2:00pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Paul’s memory to Sardis Presbyterian Church, ACTS Legacy Foundation (memo: Matthews Glen), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Willow Brooke Court, Matthews Glen for the tremendous love and care shown to the entire Rosser family.
Paul was a true Southern gentleman. He loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He will be missed dearly.
