Ruth S. Gonzales

Born 12/10/1930 in Denver, Colorado. Ruth was chosen through adoption to be the daughter of Leovardo and Maria Sierra at the age of 9 months. She was preceded in death by her parents Leovardo and Maria Sierra, husband Tony Gonzales, son John Gonzales, grandsons Tim Bowen, Israel Gonzales, and Manuel Jiron, Jr., sisters Angie Martinez, Mary Martinez, Delfina Zavala Sierra, Lillian Rivera, and Rachel Vialpando, and brothers Paul, David and Frank Sierra and is survived by her children Chris (Cathy) Gonzales, Grace (Noble) Bowen, Aaron (Dianne) Gonzales, Star (Manuel) Jiron, Melody (Sam) Rael, Andrew (LeLe) Gonzales, 19 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, and her siblings Mercy Zavattero, Annie Robles, Esther Archuleta, Carrie Martinez, and Eli Sierra, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Ruth reunited with her biological family in 2017 and was preceded in death by her biological mother Mary V. Gonzales, brother Wilbur, sisters Ruth, Patricia, Marlene, Estelle, and Phoebe and is survived by Gloria, Betty, and Becky.

Ruth Gonzales was a devoted mother, grandmother “Grannie,” and community member known for her remarkable memory, fiery spirit, tasty food and strong faith. She cherished family deeply and was admired for her kindness, resilience, and talent in her ability to play the piano by ear. She was a fighter who loved life and left a lasting positive impact on everyone she met. She often opened her home to those in need, prioritized family more than anything else, and was skilled in cooking, sewing, and crocheting. She crocheted blankets for several of her grandchildren. Anyone who knew her also knew the special place in her heart for her dogs; she had and loved many.

Ruth was a loving mother who taught her children the value of dedication, forging forward and working hard. She instilled the importance of giving thanks to God in praising him as she often did in song and worship. Ruth was a woman of strong faith and instilled in all of us the importance of family, community, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model and example of what we should all aspire to be and someone who we will always look up to and deeply admire.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Healing Waters Ministries, 6475 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80214 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:30am.
