Roberta Lee Kennedy
April 23rd, 1931 - October 2nd, 2025
Roberta Lee Brown was born to Maude and Grover Brown on April 23, 1931 in Otis, Colorado.
She had one older sister, Pauline, who later married Everett Martin.
Roberta grew up on a farm in Akron, Colorado. Her family then moved to Loveland, where she attended Loveland High School for her Senior year. She became friends with a neighbor girl, Donna Kennedy.
Donna had an older brother, Edgar Amend Kennedy, whom Roberta married on August 16, 1948. Edgar and Roberta had 2 children, LuWauna Jean and Michael (Mike) Allen.
In their early years, Edgar (Eddie) joined the Colorado Army National Guard. In 1963, the family moved to Golden, Colorado, where Eddie was stationed at Camp George West.
While LuWauna and Mike were in grade school there, Roberta rode the bus into Denver every weekday to attend beauty college. This became her full time occupation for all of her working years.
In 1969, Eddie retired from the National Guard, and moved the family back to Loveland.
For many years, Roberta owned her own beauty shop, Roberta's For Beauty, on Washington St. After selling the shop years later, she continued to work at other beauty shops in Loveland until retirement.
Roberta loved people, and enjoyed her clients, high school friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and many friends.
After retirement, she and Eddie were able to take many trips around the U. S. with Pauline and Everett, and enjoyed several cruises. Roberta was a strong, capable person who cared for her mother, sister, and husband. She never put her own needs first.
Her sense of humor carried her through life. She never took offense at anyone - but was able to see every situation with humor, and laughed everything off without any grudges. She knew how to laugh at herself, and the family has a great many memories of her humorous sayings and word play.
She was always well dressed, in clothes ironed to perfection, even including blue jeans with sharp creases.
She loved playing cards and games, and she and Eddie spent many fun times playing them with friends. Playing games with Roberta meant that you were going to laugh the whole time.
She was a great cook, and the whole family anticipated and enjoyed every holiday dinner, picnic, and party.
Roberta was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Her family was supremely important to her, and she was a bedrock to them all. Every family member found that no matter what the problem was - talking to her was most comforting. She had wisdom and tenderness that made her special. She was a gracious person who loved and valued everyone.
All of her caregivers at the Wexford and Lakeview Commons always said "She is my favorite!"
In November 2018, she confirmed her salvation and faith in Jesus Christ, in water baptism. Afterwards, she loved doing Bible studies every week, and loved learning. Her trust and faith was in Jesus, and she told LuWauna many times that she prayed every night for her family as she went to sleep.
LuWauna told her that someday Jesus would send an angel to escort her to heaven, and He did just that on Wednesday evening, October 2.
Heaven is her reward, as Jesus says: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
