George Edmund Furmage, III
January 25th, 1942 - October 11th, 2025
George Edmund Furmage III, 83, of Englewood, Florida passed away on October 11, 2025. Born on January 25, 1942 in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Eunice and George Furmage Jr. He worked for the Washington Star for 15 years and then the Federal Government where he retired from. George was a loyal fan of all University of Maryland and Washington D.C. sports teams. He enjoyed reading, golfing, bowling, going to the beach and spending time with his family. He was well known for his quick wit, shenanigans, humor, and kindness. George is survived by his beloved wife Leslie Furmage. His former wife Irene Furmage and mother of his children, Marlana Furmage Spurr (Shawn) and George Furmage IV; grandchildren Shawn Spurr (Katie) and Katelyn Spurr (Shane), Julia Furmage, Erica Furmage, George Furmage V; great-grandchildren Ella, Ian, Evan, and Asher. Brother Raymond Furmage (Pat); nieces and nephews Lynn, Ray Jr., Jeff, Todd, and Joy. There will be a Celebration of Life on November 8, 2025 at the Bowie Elks Lodge, 1506 Defense Hwy, Gambrills, Maryland from 5-9pm. Please wear a University of Maryland or Washington DC jersey or shirt. Flowers may be sent to the Bowie Elks lodge on November 8. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of George Edmund Furmage III.
