Nellie Morris was born in Manchester, Jamaica, W.I., on June 24, 1939. On June 10, 1961, she married the love of her life, Neville Morris (who preceded her in death on November 21, 2017). Together, they migrated to the United States and built a beautiful life, raising three children.
Nellie dedicated over 20 years of service to The New York Hospital before retiring to Melbourne, Florida, in 1999. She was a devoted member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Satellite Beach, where her faith and kindness shone brightly.
She found joy in simple pleasures—crossword puzzles, gardening, sewing, and even video games. Nellie loved to travel, especially on cruises, and she cherished cooking and hosting family gatherings, where her warmth filled every room.
Nellie’s memory will live on through her beloved children: Karen Dawn McLean (Michael Louis McLean), Paulette Andrea Howell, and Chester Karl Morris; her grandchildren: Anthony Morris, Michael Williams, Oscar Robles, Michael McLean Jr., Christopher Smith, Ashely McLean, Bryson Morris, and Johnathan Morris; and her siblings: Myrtle Hepburn, Rose Rankin, Beverly Ford, Cynthia Brown, Newton South, John South, and Ronald South.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on November 8, 2025, at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, 505 Grant Avenue, Satellite Beach, with Pastor Todd Schmidtetter, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in memory of Nellie Morris to the Sickle Cell Foundation at https://sicklecellfoundation.org.
